Behind the Lens

Hi Friend, I'm Sarah & I'm so glad you're here! 👋🏼

I'm the creative force behind Fleming Focal. I'm a headshot and branding photographer serving California's North Bay Area and the Central Valley. I am based in both Petaluma, CA and Oakdale, CA.

I created this business after my grandfather passed away and I found myself scanning old photos, images full of life, love, and stories I never heard. That experience made one thing clear: photos are legacies. They're the threads that connect generations even after we are gone.

My grandfather always encouraged me to keep the Fleming name going (even joking I should marry the boy in town who had the same last name). Naming this business Fleming Focal is my way of honoring him, and the deep value of preserving memories with intention.

With a background in HR and a lifelong love for storytelling, I approach photography with a mix of structure and warmth. I know how to make people feel comfortable, look polished, and still feel like themselves. Whether it’s your first time in front of the camera or your fiftieth, I’ve got you.

Based in CaliforniA

I’m proud to serve both California’s North Bay and the Central Valley, with roots in Petaluma, CA and Oakdale, CA. I split my time between the two and love working with individuals and businesses throughout both regions.

What Fleming Focal Stands For

Fleming Focal isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s about alignment.

Here’s what matters to me:

🌱 Conscious Living: I’ve been a vegetarian since 2015. I aim to reduce waste, avoid plastic whenever possible, and support ethical brands.

🏳️‍🌈 Inclusion + Representation: Every person deserves to feel seen. Period.

🌍 Progressive Values: As a conscious small business owner, I believe in equity, transparency, and doing good work that does good.

Legacy-Driven Work: Photography is a way of honoring the past, embracing the present, and gifting something meaningful to the future.

Giving Back

As part of my commitment to equity and visibility, 1% of all profits go to Positive Images in Santa Rosa, a nonprofit that supports and uplifts the LGBTQ+ community. I’m part of Community Creatives, led by Kodak Alontra (QTwithacamera), which works closely with Positive Images—and I’m honored to contribute to their mission.
